NEW FREEDOM Esther V. (McCleary) Fry, 90, died Thursday, January 17, 2013, at Rest Haven, York. She was the wife of the late Maynard L. Fry. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday from Trinity United Methodist Church, 101 N. Second St., New Freedom, with the Rev. Michelle L. Whitlock officiating. Viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial is in New Freedom Cemetery. Born November 25, 1922, in Hopewell Township, Esther was the daughter of the late Myrl T. and Addie V. (Thompson) McCleary. Esther retired in 1986 from AMP, Inc., Green Valley, after 34 years of service. She was a member of Rose Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, St. John's Jewels, and Trinity United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women, all in New Freedom. Esther celebrated her 90th birthday on November 25, 2012, with a card shower. She enjoyed bingo, the AMP breakfast club, and her weekly hairdressing. Esther is survived by numerous step grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, and step-great-great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law and companion, Kathryn Ruth McCleary of Stewartstown; one nephew, Donald McCleary and his wife, Melody of Glen Rock; and one niece, Karen Frantz and her husband, Tom of Stewartstown. She is also survived by six great-nieces and nephews; and seven great-great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two stepsons, Charles L. Fry and David L. Fry; one brother, Quentin D. McCleary; and one nephew Marlin Klinedinst.
