SPRING GROVE Glenn L. Thoman, 80, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2013, after a brief stay at York Hospital. He was the loving husband of Shirley A. (Myers) Thoman, Together they shared over 61 years of marriage. Glenn was born in Seven Valleys, on October 6, 1932, and was the son of the late Alfred Thoman and the late Verna (Bowman) Thoman. He worked for Pittman Manufacturing in York as a Hydraulic Mechanic for over 39 years prior to retiring. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson for many yeras. He enjoyed auctions, antiquing, and refinishing furniture with his wife. He was also an avid hunter and enjoyed playing cards and baseball. In addition to his wife, Shirley, he is survived by his sons, Randy L. Thoman and wife, Jere of Waynesboro, and Jack L. Thoman and his wife, Becky of York New Salem; his daughter, Teresa A. Douglas and husband, Stephen of Red Lion; his grandchildren, Travis and Christine, Jackie and Domenic, Leslie and Anthony, Jennifer and Brian, and Scott; and his great-grandchildren, Tony, Wes, and Brady. He is also survived by his brother, Leonard Thoman, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Kathryn, Elvin, Goldie, Ruth, Helen, and Eugene. A funeral service in celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Irwin-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service PC, 175 N Main St., Spring Grove, with the Rev. Paul Hack officiating. He will be laid to rest following the service at Jefferson Cemetery in Jefferson. Viewings will be held on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
