Waltemyer STEWARTSTOWN Harold R. Waltemyer, 88, died Saturday, May 4, 2013, at York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Betty L. (Holloway) Waltemyer. The viewing will be 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at J.J. Harteinstein Mortuary, Inc., 19 S. Main St., Stewartstown. The service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the mortuary, with the Rev. Barry C. Robinson and Pastor Larry W. Parlett officiating. Burial will be in Stewartstown Cemetery with full military rites by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. He was born April 3, 1925, Stewartstown, a son of the late Chester E. and Rovena (Heiss) Waltemyer Herbert. He was raised by his mother and step father, Charles K. Herbert. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, WW II serving in Company "E" 182d Infantry Regiment as an Ammunition Bearer. He was a recepient of the Purple Heart and was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater Medal and the Philippine Liberation Medal. He was employed with the former Stewartstown Furniture Co. over 25 years and Yorktowne Kitchens and Zale Brothers Furniture, Red Lion, retiring in the late 1980's. Harold was a life long member of Stewartstown United Methodist Church. He was also a member of Stewart American legion Post 455, Benedict Meade V.F.W. Post 7046, Stewartstown, and Hopewell Fish & Game Assoc. He is survived by two sons, Chester H. Waltemyer and his wife, Sharon of Stewartstown and Gregory M. Waltemyer and his wife Christine of Shrewsbury; three grandchildren, Wayne "Marty" Waltemyer and his wife Retha, Shawn G. Waltemyer and Megan C. Waltemyer; two great-grandchildren, Kendi and Tyler Waltemyer; a brother, Charles Herbert and his wife Carol; sister, Marlene Corcoran and husband Rich; a brother-in-law, Robert Ruff, Sr.; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Charlotte Ruff, Shirley Eaton and Phyllis Hill. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Stewartstown United Methodist Church, P.O.
