DALLASTOWN Herbert Paul Blessing, 89, formerly of Red Lion, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, October 8, 2012 at Manor Care Kingston Court. He was the husband of Gloria May (Conaway) Blessing of Dallastown whom he married on October 5, 1946. Born September 8, 1923 in York, he was the son of the late John and Sue (Scheffman) Blessing. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Blessing will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, Inc., 104 W. Main St., Dallastown, with Rev. Dr. John Goddisart officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Heiland View Cemetery. Mr. Blessing is survived by a daughter, Cheryl D. Blessing of Dallastown; a son, Timothy Paul Blessing and his wife Mary, of York; grandchildren, Mandi Nicole Blessing Davis and her husband Rick Davis Jr., Ashley Sue Blessing Bryant, Chelsie Jo Blessing Hare and her husband Charle Hare; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ervin Blessing. Mr. Blessing was a life-long farmer, owning Star Truck Farm. He was a bus driver for the Leiphart Bus Company and a baker for Jim Sutter Company. Mr. Blessing was a charter member of Cape Horn Gun Club and an avid hunter. He also was a life member of Chapel United Methodist Church and a charter member of ReCreation FORCES. In lieu of flowers, it was Herb's wish for contribution in his memory be made to, as he called them "his kids", ReCreation USA, Inc., P.O.
