SEVEN VALLEYS James E. Godfrey, Jr., 86, passed away at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in York. He was the husband of Esther V. (Stough) Godfrey, who passed away on June 8, 2007. James was born September 17, 1926, in York County, and was the son of the late James E., Sr. and Mabel (Barnhart) Godfrey. He retired in 1986 from Stauffer Biscuit Company after 30 years of employment. He was a member of Codorus Church of The Brethren in Loganville. James is survived by his seven sons, Samuel Godfrey, Rodger Godfrey, Daniel Godfrey, and Arthur Godfrey, all of Seven Valleys, James Godfrey, III of Thomasville, Paul Godfrey of Spring Grove, and John Godfrey of York; his three daughters, Shirley Brenneman and Kathy Yohe, both of York, and Charlotte Smith of Dover; 35 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and his sister, Cora Frey of York. He was preceded in death by six brothers and five sisters. His funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 29, 2012, at Codorus Church of The Brethren, 1129 Dunkard Valley Road, Loganville 17342. Viewings will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at The Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 S. Main St., Mount Wolf, and Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens Officiating at the service will be his pastor, the Rev. Richard Fischl.
