John R. Degnan, 62, passed into the Lord's presence on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, at 8:25 a.m. at York Hospital. He was the husband of Dianne L. (Goodman) Degnan with whom he celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary on July 10, 2012. A visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday at Grace Fellowship Church, 1405 Seven Valleys Rd., York, with a Celebration of Life Memorial Service to follow at 6 p.m. at the church. His former pastor, the Rev. Larry Katz, will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Mr. Degnan was born March 2, 1950, in Norristown, the son of Madeleine (Bennis) Degnan of Birchrunville, PA and the late James H. Degnan. He was a professional mechanical engineer with American Hydro for 26 years of which he was vice-president and part owner, a graduate of Drexel University, and had served as an elder with Grace Fellowship. John was a very active man, loved his Lord and put his family first. He enjoyed woodworking, photography, music, computers, gardening, his cabin, biblical counseling ministry and just helping others. He fought a long 3 1/2 year battle with brain cancer and is now at peace and rejoicing with his Lord. Mr. Degnan is survived by his wife; his mother; four daughters, Mindy Tomes and husband Liam and their children, Tori, Tasha, Jathan and Tianna of Seven Valleys, Bonnie Evenhouse and husband Ross of Michigan, Rachael Nissley and Shawn and their children, Gregory, Erica and Callie of Limerick, and Allison Barshinger and husband David and their children, Levi, Ian and Micah; a son, Alex Degnan and girlfriend Alicia of Red Lion; a sister, Mary Phelps; and five brothers, James, Tom, Dan, Michael and Patrick Degnan.
