Foster YORK Pastor John T. Foster, 71, died on Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at 4:35 a.m. at York Hospital. He was the husband of Carol A. (Amos) Foster with whom he celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary on November 18, 2012 and the late Peggy A. (Kemp) Foster. There will be a viewing from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday at the Church of God, corner of N. State and Wallace Sts., York. There will also be a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Workinger-Semmel F.H. & Crematorium, Inc., 849 E. Market St., York with the service to follow at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Officiating will be Dr. Kenneth Bell, PA State Administrative Bishop of Church of God; Pastor Robert Varner, Church of God retired; Evangelist Frank Menhart, music ministry; and Pastor Truman Smith, Church of God in Ft. Wayne, Ind., at graveside committal. Burial will follow in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Pastor Foster was born July 4, 1941, in Nashville, Tenn., and was the son of the late William L. and Lucy E. (Woodard) Foster. He was a member of the Church of God and prior to serving 27 years and retiring as the pastor of Church of God at State and Wallace Sts. in York, he had served in Tennessee, Ohio, Indiana and Johnstown. Pastor Foster is survived by his wife; two sons, J. Keith Foster and wife Nancy of Red Lion and Julian T. Foster and wife Anita of Brooklyn, NY; a daughter, A. Renee Lenzer and husband William of York; four grandchildren, Andrew, Serena, Luke and Jack; two brothers, Lloyd and Kenneth Foster both of Lebanon, TN; and three sisters, Mary Oliver, Naomi Johnson and Martha Gregory all of Lebanon, Tenn. He was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Paul and David Foster; and a sister, Zelda Foster. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wallace Street Church of God, c/o Vance Rohrbaugh, 700 Cassel Rd., Lot 38, Manchester, PA 17345; or to the , 3544 N. Progress Ave., Suite 103, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
