YORK John W. Hostetter, 79, of Springettsbury Township, died on Thursday, January 16, 2013, at his home. He was the husband of Janet (Zuse) Hostetter. In June 2013 they celebrated 52 years of marriage. Mr. Hostetter retired from Smurfit-Stone Container Corp. in 1997, having served 32 years in the production and sales department. He was a member of the class of 1952 of William Penn Senior High School and a 1956 gradute of Rider University in Trenton, N.J. Following college, he served for two years in the U.S. Army. He was stationed in the White House in the area of communications. He was a member of the York Sertoma Club, a life member of the Springettsbury Fire Company, and a life member of the York County Agricultural Society. He was a member of Yorkshire United Methodist Church. Born in York, on September 12, 1934, he was a son of the late Paul R. and J. Frances (Keener) Hostetter. In addition to his wife, he leaves two daughters, Carol Stough of York, and Cynthia Kelly and her husband, Rev. Joseph Kelly of Cambridge, Md.; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Edward Hostetter. A memorial service will be held on Monday January 20, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Yorkshire United Methodist Church, 125 Edgewood Road, York 17402 with the Rev. Dennis A. Hummel and the Rev. Forrest S. "Bud" Bish officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
