Joseph C. Comitz Obituary
YORK Joseph Clayton Comitz, 84, entered into the loving arms of our Lord Wednesday, December 4, 2013. He was the husband of Barbara (Ripka) Comitz for 51 years. He was the son of the late Joseph Comitz and Dorothy Miller Comitz of Hanover. Mr. Comitz retired from York International after 39 years as a Field Service Engineer. He was a life member of the 13th Ward, a member of the Shiloh American Legion and also Patmos Lodge No. 348 for 54 years. He served in the Army from 1951 to 1958, where he worked as a chef and developed an enjoyment for cooking. Besides his wife, he is survived by four children, 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren: daughter, Tina Bowder and husband Todd of York and their six sons, Professor Jonathan Price and wife Agnieszka and son Daniel of Poland, Benjamin Price and wife Thais and son Caleb of Va., Andrew Price of Va., Joseph Price of NYC, Matthew Price of York, and Adam Bowder of York; daughter, Terry Mathison and husband Jerome of York and their three children, Tonya Mathison of York, Pastor Brock Mathison and wife Nicole of York and four children, Nathan, Gracie Emma and Laura of York and Kayla Vernet and husband David of Washington, D.C.; son, Joseph Comitz and wife Sandi of Md. and daughters Sydney and Spencer of Md.; daughter, Brenda Senft and husband Paul of York and son Clayton Hamme of York; sister, Patricia Wentz and family of Hanover and Littlestown; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Earl W. Comitz in 1980. Mr. Comitz requested his body be donated to science for research. The family wishes to express love and gratitude to all of the caregivers who so patiently cared for Joe during the last 15 years, especially Brenda, Linda, Laura, Darlene, Joyce, Lynn, Tyra, Bonnie, Dee and Sharon. Thank you to Chaplain Chris for the care and compassion given to Barbara over the past few months. Thank you also to Heartland Hospice for its kindness and wonderful care in the last days of Joe's life journey.
