Joseph E. Lahr Obituary
DOVER Joseph E. "Joe" Lahr, 65, died unexpectedly on Thursday, December 13, 2012, at York Hospital. He was the husband of Darlene M. (Einsig) Lahr for 34 years. Joe was born April 6, 1947, in York, the son of Marie E. (Irvin) Lahr of York and the late George A. Lahr. He was a graduate of William Penn High School and a veteran of the Marine Corps. Joe worked in the tree cutting and pruning business most of his life. He also worked as a drywall installer. He was always willing to lend a hand to friends and neighbors. Joe was a member of the 12 Ward, 9th Ward and Delphia Clubs. A viewing will be 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Church 309 S. George St., with a funeral liturgy of the word to follow at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Jonathan P. Sawicki officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. The John W. Keffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 902 Mt. Rose Ave., is assisting with the arrangements. Including his wife and mother, Joe is also survived by five children, Tammy S. Herman of Dover, Edward A. Billet and his wife Denise N. of Dover, Jody L. Cain of N.C., Billie Jo Lahr of York and Shane A. Billet and wife Betty of York; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; six siblings, Margaret E. Harrold of York, Martha M. Ford of York, David W. Lahr of Jacobus, Elizabeth M. Elko of York, Bertha A. Chronister of York, and Francis A. Lahr of York; numerous nieces and nephews. www.KefferFH.com
