JUPITER, FL L. Dan Parks, 60, passed away Monday, October 1, 2012, at Jupiter Medical Center. He was born in Baltimore, Md., on November 4, 1951. He was a native of York, graduating from Red Lion High School, 1969 and attending Williamsport Area Community College and York Academy of Arts. Dan was a gifted artist who had expertise in: stone sculpting, oil painting, water color, silk screening and sign making. His work is found in private collections in Maine, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Missouri, Montana and Florida. Dan moved to Jupiter in 1983 and has displayed his artwork in local restaurants, Tequesta Galleries and Profile Gallery. Dan also worked as a graphic artist for Jadco Signing Inc and Floridian Signs, both in Jupiter, Fla. His God given talent and creativity drove him to become an accomplished guitarist and singer. During the 80s, Dan was a member of the "City Limits" band and performed as a solo act in local area restaurants. He enjoyed writing and playing music for the pure joy it gave him. Dan loved to travel and had an intense appreciation for the beauty of God's earth. During his lifetime he spent much time outdoors hiking and hiked the majority of the Appalachian Trail. He also loved boating, fishing and playing tennis. Dan was preceded in death by his beloved parents Luther and Marcella Parks, and his brother, Bob Parks. Survivors include his wife of 33 years Gail, who loved him with her whole heart; one son, Jason (Mariya) Parks to whom he passed on his musical and artistic talents; three sisters, Carolyn Sue (Rick) Miller, Donna Jean (Jim) Zak and Gail(Bob) Stovall; his father and mother-in-law, Lloyd and Jean Cooper; three brothers-in-law, Dennis (Debbie) Cooper, Carl Cooper and Bill Cooper; many nieces and nephews and a very dear friend, who was like a sister, Cindy Ross. A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Friday, October 5, 2012 at Grace Immanuel Bible Church, 17475 Jonathan Drive, Jupiter, FL 33458. A private interment will be held at Riverside Memorial Park, Tequesta, Fla.
