YORK Leslie I. Wisotzkey, Jr., 88, passed away Monday, January 21, 2013, at Manor Care North. He was the husband of V. Romaine (Nelson) Wisotzkey, who passed away June 23, 2010. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 24, 2013, at Mt. Rose Cemetery with full military rites provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Family and friends will meet at the Mt. Rose Ave. entrance of the cemetery at 1:45 p.m. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, is in charge of arrangements. Born June 13, 1924, in Lancaster, a son of the late Leslie I. and Gladys (McComas) Wisotzkey, he retired in 1990 from York Hoover Body after 48 years of service. During the 1940's and 1950's Mr. Wisotzkey was a volunteer for The City of York Fire Dept. and the Civil Air Patrol. Leslie was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII, where he served 17 months of domestic service and 21 months of foreign service that was based out of Peleliu, Palau. He also served on the U.S.S. Monitor and in the Russell, Bougainville, Guadalcanal, and Tulagi Islands. He was awarded war ribbons for the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre that included three battle stars, and the European Theatre. He was a member of Red Lion American Legion and Forty and Eight, and had been a former board member of York White Rose Drum and Bugle Corps. Mr. Wisotzkey is survived by a son, Leslie I. "Skip" Wisotzkey, III and wife, Peggy of York; four grandchildren, Mark, Jody, Lesley, and Brett; four great-grandchildren, Nathan, Allyson, Sophie, and Wyatt; and a brother, Burton Wisotzkey of Twentynine Palms, Calif.
