JACOBUS Lois L. Whitacre, 76, entered into rest on Monday, the evening of September 17, 2012, at Manor Care North. She was surrounded by her family. She was the wife of Ray P. Whitacre. They observed their 51st wedding anniversary on September 2, 2012. Lois was born the 3rd, the 3rd, of 36 in Craley, daughter of the late Chet and Charlotte Workinger. She attended Red Lion High School, worked at a sewing factory in Hellam and at Amp, Inc. in Laru. Following her work she was a loving homemaker. Lois enjoyed many activivties including, bingo, yard sales, slot machines, and most of all, spending time with her family. In addition to her husband, Lois is also survived by four children, Michael Nelson, husband of Deborah, Glenn Nelson, husband of Cheryl, and Kim Whitacre, husband of Connie, all of York, and Raelynn Trone, wife of Joseph of Jacobus; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Joel Workinger, Dennis Workinger, and Darryl "Chub" Workinger; an aunt Helen Lighty; cousins, nieces, nephews and a life long friend, Susie Kline. She was preceded in death by a son, Shawn D. Whitacre, whom she greatly missed and has been reunited with again in heaven. The viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., 2114 W. Market St. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Richard B. Starr officiating. Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery. KefferFH.com
