Berkheiser WINDSOR Luther "Lute" W. Berkheiser, 79, entered into rest after a lengthy illness on Friday, November 23, 2012, at 6 a.m. at his residence. He was the husband of Norma J. (Grothe) Berkheiser, who entered into rest on March 28, 2008. Born in Chanceford Twp. on May 4, 1933, he was the son of the late Austin and Annie (Williams) Berkheiser. He was a truck driver for the former PA&S Small in York, retiring in 1991 after 34 years of service. Lute received an award from Scrivners for 33 years of safe driving. He loved going camping, crabbing and NASCAR Racing. He was a fan of Rusty Wallace. He is survived by two daughters, Sue V. Grothe of Windsor and Sandy L. Crumling of Windsor and husband William, Sr.; four grandchildren, William Crumling, Jr, Riley Grothe, Luke Kline and Lindsey Kline; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Todd A. Grothe in 2002. Visitation will be 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. The service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Thomas R. Osenbach, pastor of Bethlehem Stonepile United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Stonepile UM Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be offered to: Bethlehem Stonepile UM Church, 250 Bethlehem Church Road, Red Lion, PA 17356.
