JACOBUS Mark E. Kauffman, 63, entered into the presence of God on Friday, August 24, 2012, from his home, with family by his side. He fought a courageous battle with a lengthy illness. Born on January 21, 1949, in York, he was the son of the late Phyllis Louise (Myers) and Marcellus Kauffman. He graduated from Dallastown High School Class of 1966 with college prep classes. Mark was employed by Hess Gas Station as an attendant. Mark enjoyed listening to the Beatles, CMT videos, and watching NASCAR. Richard Petty and Tony Stewart were his favorite drivers. He was also a collector of Hess model trucks and model trains. He liked going to Hershey Park, taking walks, and smoking. He was a member of United Church of Christ and Jacobus Jaycees. Mark is survived by his sister, Sandra Kauffman, and brother-in-law, Richard Markle of Jacobus; an uncle, Donald Myers and wife, Claire of Massachusetts; cousins; family, and friends. Family and friends may attend a Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, September 1, 2012, at 2 p.m. at 221 N. Main St., Jacobus. The Rev. Charles Lindeman will be officiating. Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc., York, is in charge of arrangements. Contributions can be made to the funeral home, 822 E. Market St,. York, PA 17403 to help defray funeral costs.
