Mary Alice Rehmeyer Obituary
NEW FREEDOM Mary Alice Rehmeyer, 93, died Sunday, August 25, 2013, at Manor Care Health Services-North. She was the wife of the late Warren W. Rehmeyer. There will be a viewing from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. on Thursday at the mortuary, with the Rev. George M. Schneider officiating. Interment will be in New Freedom Cemetery. She was born April 25, 1920, in Shrewsbury Township, a daughter of the late Paul and Katie May (Reever) Henry. Mary Alice attended New Freedom High School. She lived in New Freedom for 85 years before moving to Dover to live with her daughter and son-in-law. She worked for AMP, Inc. for 32 years before retiring in 1982. Mary Alice was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in New Freedom for over 70 years. She was a member of the Rose Fire Company Auxillary in New Freedom for 73 years and was made a life member of the fire company in 1995. She held many positions with the auxillary including past president, past secretary and membership committee for many years. She was also a charter member of the York County Fireman's Association Auxillary. She was past president, vice president and recording secretary of Bowser's School Reunion. Mary Alice was a social member of New Freedom V.F.W. Post 7012 and a member of Friendly Neighbors in New Freedom for several years. Mary Alice was also a member of Daughters of American Lodge, Golden Rod Council #24 and the former AARP New Freedom chapter. She is survived by a daughter, Cindy L. Sharp and her husband, George D. of Dover; granddaughter, Veronica Kell and her husband, Andrew of Harrisburg; grandson, David Sharp and his wife, Lisa of Richmond, Va.; and great-grandsons, Nathaniel and Ethan of Richmond, Va. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mary Alice's name may be made to, Molly's Place Rescue Pet Adoption Center, 5220 E. Trindle Rd, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
