Mary E. Harvey Obituary
HANOVER Mary Eloise (Lienemann) Harvey, 91, entered into God's eternal care Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at the Homewood at Plum Creek Nursing Home. Mary was the loving wife of Eugene K. Harvey, who passed away December 15, 1996. Born August 23, 1922, in Logansport, Ind., she was the daughter of the late Hugo and Veronica (Gross) Lienemann. Mary and Gene married while in the service. She was a Wave stationed in Washington, D.C., during World War II and he was a fighter pilot in the Naval Air Force. She was very proud of her time in the service. They lived in Indiana, Florida, and New Jersey before moving to Hanover in 1967. She began working at the then Hanover Public Library as a volunteer soon after arriving in Hanover. She later became an employee of the library. During those 28 years, she made many good friends along the way. Mary was a graduate of Logansport Business College in Indiana. Mary was currently a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Hanover. Prior to this, her membership was active at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church of Hanover. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Homewood as well as taking care of the library located there. She also volunteered her time helping in the Hospitality Shop at the Hanover Hospital. She enjoyed playing and being involved in a bridge club for many years as well as participating in many of the Memorial Day parades held in Hanover. Mary is survived by her three sons, John R. Harvey of California, James E. "Jim" Harvey and his wife, Connie of Spring Grove, and Eugene K. Harvey, Jr. and his wife, JoAnn of New Jersey; her two daughters, Lorraine A. Callan and her husband, Mark of New York, and Mary Kay Ream and her husband, Tom of Spring Grove; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her sister, Shirley Bielawski and her husband, Albie of Bowie, Md. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Margie McIlwian and Ruth Pugh. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 4, 2014, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick St., Hanover. There will be a viewing from 12 to 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mary may be made to Guthrie Memorial Library, 301 Carlisle St., Hanover, PA 17331. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.kenworthyfh.com
