YORK Meda L. Hechinger, age 88, died Monday, January 20, 2014 at Normandie Ridge. She was the wife of the late James E. Hechinger. Born December 12, 1925 in York, a daughter of the late Charles H. and Lena (Falkler) Stambaugh, she was a graduate of William Penn High School. She was retired from American Chain and Cable Company, where she had been employed for 19 years. Mrs. Hechinger is survived by a grandson, John M. Timms of State College; two sisters, Linda L. Bean, of Shiloh, and Anna M. Smith of Longs, S.C.; three brothers, Lester E. Stambaugh, of New Oxford, Carl L. Stambaugh, of Shiloh, and Richard L. Stambaugh, of Colorado Springs, Colo. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Lentz; and a brother, Robert Stambaugh. Services will be held at a later date, with burial in Mount Rose Cemetery. Workinger Semmel Funeral Homes, Inc., 849 East Market St., York, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Normadie Ridge, 1700 Normandie Dr., York, PA 17404.
