YORK Millard E. Myers, 90, passed away on Friday, October 5, 2012, at the Lutheran Home at Sprenkle Drive. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy (Weikert) Myers, who passed away in 2010. Millard was born on January 21, 1922, in West Manchester Township, and was the son of the late Michael D. and Maggie (Schriver) Myers. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He served in the 1st Cavalry Division, 99th Field Artillery. He received the Philippine's Liberation Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal with four Bronze Stars and one Bronze Arrowhead. He was the owner of Millard's Men's Wear in York and retired in 1987. Prior to that he was a manager of the Boy's Wear Department at Sears & Roebuck. He was a life member of the West York VFW Post 8951 and the Viking Athletic Assoc., and a longtime member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church in York. He is survived by his sister, Bernice Berkheimer of York, and two nieces. A funeral service in celebration of his life will be held on Monday at 12 p.m. at Irwin-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service PC, 175 N Main St., Spring Grove, with the Rev. Brenda J. Ferree officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his wife at Trinity Roth's U.C.C. Cemetery in Spring Grove. A viewing will be held on Monday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the funeral home.
