HANOVER Myrna E. Helwig, 90, passed away on Friday, January 11, 2013, at Golden Living Center in Gettysburg. Born on March 13, 1922, in Hanover, she was a daughter of the late Oliver and Edna Bechtel Bair, and wife of Francis R. Helwig, who passed in 1984. She was a homemaker and loved mall walking with her friends and going to McDonalds. An avid bowler, she loved to travel, play Bingo, and spend time with her family. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church. She is survived by four daughters, Joanne Meckley and her husband, Jim of Abbottstown, Gloria Gladfelter and her husband, Rich of Thomasville, and Brenda Strausbaugh and her husband, Dan, and Margaret Groft and her husband, John, all of Hanover; 13 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by three sons, Harry, Don, and Ralph Helwig; four grandchildren, Patti Smith, Robin Gladfelter, and Christopher and Samantha Helwig; and two sisters, Catherine Rineman and Emma Hershey. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 14, 2013, at St. Vincent de Paul Church with The Rev. John D. Schmalhofer serving as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Vincent Cemetery. The family will receive friends at a viewing one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Church, 220 Third St., Hanover, PA 17331. The family would like to thank Golden Living Center and Asera Care Hospice for all of their love and support. I'M so sorry for your loss and send my deepest sympathy to you all .. i had the Privilege of spending many nights with Myrna as I was one of her 3rd shift nurses her memory's will stay with me forever she will be missed
