SHREWSBURY N. Virginia "Ginny" Burk, 75, died Friday, May 24, 2013, at ManorCare Health Services-Dallastown. She was the wife of Roland E. Burk. There will be a viewing from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, at the J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom. The service will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 30, from the mortuary with Pastor Randy Hughes officiating. Burial will be in New Freedom Cemetery. Born March 3, 1938, in Freeland (Baltimore County), Md., Ginny was the daughter of the late William R. and Lida Ann (Denmeyer) Whipperman. Ginny was employed as a waitrees with the former Wiley's Restaurant for 13 years. She later worked in the snack bar at York Hospital for 31 years, retiring in 2008. Ginny was a member of Grace United Methodist Church of New Freedom, the New Freedom Post #7012 VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and she volunteered at Barbara J. Egan Nursing and Rehab Center. Ginny enjoyed helping other people. In addition to her husband, Roland E. Burk, living at home, she leaves a son, Michael E. Burk and his wife, Debbie of Stewartstown; three grand daughters, Rebecca Ann Burk, Catherine Nicole Burk, and Samantha Rose Burk; a brother, Kenny Whipperman of Stewartstown; and a sister, Goldie Richcreak of York . Ginny was preceded in death by two brothers, Herman F. "Jim" Whipperman and William R. Whipperman, Jr.; and three sisters, Marie E. Crouse, Rose E. Bell, and Margaret I. Boyer.
