SPRING GARDEN TWP. Nick J. Spagnola, 94, of Spring Garden Twp., passed away peacefully on February 5, 2013, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Esther (Accardo) Spagnola. They celebrated 62 years of marriage. Nick was born on June 17, 1918 in York, a son of the late Liborio and Concettina (Lobianco) Spagnola. He was a graduate of William Penn High School. Nick was a co-founder of Ace Beer Distributors for 40 years before his retirement. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and its bowling league. He was also a member of the York Lodge of the Sons of Italy and a member of the Phoenix Dance Club. In addition to his wife, Nick is also survived by a son, Dr. Nicholas Spagnola and his wife, Kathleen; a daughter, Sandra Hopkins, and her husband, Warren, all of York; four grandchildren, Michelle Hopkins, Bryan Hopkins and his wife Gayle (Stoner) of York, Carolyn Fallstick and her husband, Dr. Matthew Fallstick of Feasterville, and Daniel Spagnola and his wife Haley (Walsh) of Marietta; a brother, Jimmie Spagnola and his wife, Nancy of Tallahassee, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Mary Terrasi and Jennie Spagnola of York, Frances Wagner and her husband Samuel of Lancaster; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony Spagnola; and two sisters, Sanda Alfano and Mary Mingora. The viewings will from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory,Inc. 902 Mt. Rose Ave. and 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2935 Kingston Rd. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Louis Petruha O.F.M. Cap, as the celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St Joseph Church Building Fund, 2935 Kingston Rd. York PA 17402; or to Compassionate Care Hospice, 1513 Cedar Cliff Drive Suite 100, Camp Hill PA 17011. Nick was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was always willing to help anyone who needed him in any way. He was loved by everyone who knew him. KefferFH.com
