DOVER Ralph C. Hess, 83, entered into rest at 3:19 a.m. on Thursday, January 10, 2013, at Manor Care Kingston Court. He was the husband of the late Marie E. (Fink) Hess. Born May 3, 1929, in York, he was a son of the late Charles and Lottie (Byerts) Hess. Ralph was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He owned and operated Ralph Hess Body Shop in Dover for 30 years. Ralph was a former member of Paddletown St. Paul's U.M. Church, Etters and a member of the Autobody Association of York. He enjoyed hunting. Ralph is survived by two daughters, Patricia A. Bookmyer and husband, Edward of Craley, and Roxann M. Gallagher and husband, William of Dover; two grandchildren, Sean Bookmyer and Christopher Holmes; a great granddaughter, Sydney Holmes; and two sisters, Valeria Gross of Lewisberry and Joyce Bankert of Jefferson. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Curvin and Carl Hess, and two sisters, Gladys Ruppert and Gladys Goodyear. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Ralph's funeral at 11 a.m. and the viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at Emig Funeral Home, 47 N. Queen St., Dover. Burial will follow in Suburban Memorial Gardens, Dover, where veteran's honors will be presented by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Officiating will be the Rev. Joyce M.
