DOVER Roy E. "Mike" King, 85, entered into rest at 7:23 a.m. on Sunday, November 11, 2012 at the home of his daughter, Sandy. He was the husband of the late Dorothy M. (Sowers) King. He was born May 13, 1927 in York, a son of the late Harvey and Ruth (Gantz) King. Mike served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the U.S.S. Mack. He had 27 years of service as a baker for Nabisco and later worked 20 years for Stone Container. Mike was an avid bowler. He is survived by three daughters, Susan R. King and companion, Kevin Cornish of York, Sandy R. Anderson and husband, Rick, and Lori A. Strickler and husband, Scott, all of Dover; seven grandchildren, Ricky King-Gonzalez, Eva King, Scott Failor II, Ricky Anderson, Jr., David Anderson, Samantha Strickler and McKenna Strickler; four great-grandchildren, Hunter Failor, Mason Anderson, Emily Zeigler and Grayson Anderson; a sister, Beulah Crall of Dover; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Cupcake. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Pete King; and a sister, Arlene Smith. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Mikes's funeral at 11:30 a.m. and the viewing from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Friday at Emig Funeral Home, 47 N. Queen St., Dover. Burial will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery, York, with veteran's honors presented by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Officiating will be the Rev. Bonnie Whittier, pastor of Christ UCC in Jefferson. Memorial contributions may be made to White Rose Hospice, 1412 Sixth Avenue, York, PA 17403.
