PARKTON, MD Ruth S. Turnbaugh, 96, of Parkton, Md., died October 1, at Asbury Methodist Village, Gaithersburg, Md. Viewings will be 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, October 4, from the J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, and on Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m. from Mt. Carmel U. M. Church, 2533 Mt. Carmel Road, Parkton, MD. Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, October 5, at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The Reverend Scott Dale Shumaker will officiate. Mrs. Turnbaugh was born September 28, 1917, in Rutledge, Harford County Md., the daughter of the late Edwin F. and Mary M. (Sanders) Standiford. She was the wife of the late Allen L. Turnbaugh, Sr. Ruth was a resident of Parkton, Md. since 1946. She had retired from College Manor Nursing Home in Lutherville, Md. in 1976, following 10 years as an LPN. Ruth was a member of Mt. Carmel U. M. Church of Parkton and was active with the United Methodist Women. She was a member of OES Chapter #42, Parkton, Md. Ruth was a volunteer with the Hereford Food Pantry. She was an active quilter and had made and donated over 300 quilts for "Project Lioness." Ruth is survived by a son, Allen L. Turnbaugh, Jr. of Parkton, Md.; a daughter, Gail R. Haag of Germantown, Md.; four grandchildren, Allison Turnbaugh, Ryan Turnbaugh, Sarah Haag-Fisk, and Timothy Haag; a great-granddaughter, Philippa Lark Haag-Fisk; and a sister, Jeanette Smith of Monkton, Md. Ruth was preceded in death by a son, Robert P. Turnbaugh, six brothers, and three sisters. Memorial contributions may be made in Ruth's memory to Mt. Carmel U. M. Church, 2533 Mt. Carmel Road, Parkton, MD 21120.
