MANCHESTER TWP. Samuel "Sam" E. Gembe, 70, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2014, at his residence. He was the husband of Audrey E. (Kindig) Gembe, with whom he celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on November 3, 2013. Mr. Gembe was born in Emigsville on September 16, 1943, son of the late J. Henry and Hattie E. (Brown) Gembe. He was employed by Voith Hydro as a First Class Assembler, from which he retired after more than 25 years of service. Sam attended Otterbein United Methodist Church, Emigsville. He enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, woodworking and gardening. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Todd S. Gembe of Lower Windsor Twp., Jay E. Gembe and his wife Tina of Weigelstown and Terry J. Gembe and his wife Joann of Dallastown; one daughter, Diane E. Wells and her husband Ray of Dover; eleven grandchildren, Barbara Jean Gembe and her fiance Jordan Holtzapple, Jacob T. Gembe and his fiancee Megan Sigman, Mandy J. Glisan and her husband Corey, Josh D. Erb and his companion Angie, Holly E. Erb, Tabby A. Gembe and her companion Kennie Zeigler, Jessica Allen and her husband Ricky, Samuel C. Gembe, Joelle Gembe, Tyler E. Leahy and his companion Erin Shultz, and Kayla J. Leahy and her companion Jonathan Baldwin; eight great-grandchildren, Uriah Erb, Gabriel McDonald, Kaden Erb, Porsha Zeigler, Alyzah Kylie Erb, Caiden Allen, Raya Leahy, and Brantly Baldwin; three brothers, Charles, George and Stanley Gembe, all of York. Funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at the LeRoy R. Leber Funeral Home, Inc., 2290 School St., York (Shiloh). Final resting place will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, York. There will be a visitation from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
