SPRING GROVE Samuel Joseph "Sam" Bange, 81, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 29, 2014, surrounded by his loved ones. He was the loving husband of Peggy (Strine) Bange for 60 years. Born October 14, 1932. in Hanover, he was a son of the late Elmer and Della (Berkheimer) Bange. Sam was an avid hunter who loved the outdoors, enjoyed traveling, and loved to be surrounded by his family and friends. He was a lifelong member of the Hanover Seventh-day Adventist Church and was employed as a carpenter by Cumberland Systems, Inc. for over 30 years. Along with his wife, Sam is survived by his children, Ben Bange and wife, Darlene of Spring Grove, Jonathan Bange and wife, Danica of Spring Grove, and Susan Smith and husband, Tony of Abbottstown. Also surviving are a daughter-in-law, Jonelet Bange of Spring Grove; nine grandchildren, Shannon, Shawn, Jamie, Lori, LeeAnn, Josh, Zack, Kaylee, and Tyler; and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Bange was preceded in death by his son, Michael Bange; grandson, Luke Bange; and siblings, William Bange, Ruth Dubs, Daniel Bange, Esther Reichart, and Mary Butler. Burial will be private in Marburg Memorial Gardens, Hanover. Pallbearers will be Ben Bange, Jonathan Bange, Tony Smith, Shawn Hare, Josh Smith, Zack Smith, and honorary pallbearer, Tyler Bange. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. Bange will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2014, at 4 p.m. at the Hanover Seventh-day Adventist Church, 865 Gitts Run Road, Hanover, with Pastor David Woodruff and Pastor Bryan Laue officiating. Following the service, the family will receive friends at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sam's memory may be made to the VNA Hospice, 440 N.
