YORK William A. Carlson, 89, of West Manchester Township, died in the loving embrace of his wife in the comfort of his home, after a brief illness on Friday, October 5, 2012. He is survived by his beautiful wife, "Margie" Margaret D. (Lorentsen) Carlson, who was the love of his life for 70 years; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 12, 2012, at Shiloh Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2201 Church Road in York, with a viewing from 9:30 to 11 a.m. His pastor, The Rev. Kathy Swords, will be officiating at the service. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road in York, is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Carlson was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on March 2, 1923, son of the late Charles and Olga (Bothen) Carlson. He retired in 1983 after 42 years of service at Harley Davidson in York, where he was Supervisor of Milling. Prior to that he had worked for AMF. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps during WWII. Mr. Carlson was a member of Shiloh Evangelical Lutheran Church in York, was a 32nd Degree Mason of Minerva Lodge in Brooklyn, N.Y., and a member of Harrisburg Consistory, York Forrest #30, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, and the Viking Athletic Club in York. He enjoyed travelling, reading, and spending time with his family and friends.
