Obituary Condolences

WAYCROSS, GA William H. Roomsburg, 83, died on April 21, 2014 after an extended illness. He was born in Ridgely, West Virginia to the late Thomas E. Roomsburg and Amy B. Roomsburg. He was raised in the York area and began his career with the U.S. Postal Service as a Letter Carrier. He later moved to Florida, and then made his home in Waycross, GA for the past twenty years following his retirement from the U.S. Postal Service. Mr. Roomsburg was a member of the Lutheran faith, and the V.F.W. Post 4382 in Waycross. Mr. Roomsburg served in the United States Army during World War II, and the Korean War. He received the Good Conduct Medal, and the Occupational Medal for his time in Germany. He is survived by his wife Doris A. Roomsburg of Waycross, a sister Phyllis Hull of Abbottstown, Pennsylvania, two brothers, Ralph F. "Buzz" Roomsburg of Thomas-ville, and Harold L. Roomsburg of Dillsburg. He also has many nieces and nephews, grand and great grand nieces and nephews, and other extended family members. William was one of ten children. He was preceeded in death by five brothers and a sister: Gordon W. Roomsburg, Marie Zumbower, Thomas. E. Roomsburg, Donald A. Roomsburg, Earl B. Roomsburg, and his twin brother Robert C. Roomsburg. A military graveside service was held on April 24, 2014 at the Greenlawn Cemetery, Waycross. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Satilla, 808 Evergreen Way, Waycross, Georgia 31501.
