YORK William J. Noone, 92, died Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Country Meadows, Leader Heights. He was the devoted husband of Vera (Selgrade) Noone for 66 years. Born January 7, 1921 in Lost Creek, Mr. Noone was the son of the late William J. and Elizabeth (Higgins) Noone. He was a graduate of St. Joseph High School in Girardville and served as a Rifleman in the 69th Inf. Div. in the US Army during WWII. He had been employed as the Superintendent of Stations for Conrail and was a past President of the American Association of Railroads. Mr. Noone was a long-time parishioner at St. Francis Church in Springfield, and recently became a member of St. Joseph Church in Dallastown. He was also an active member of both the Rotary Club and Men of Malvern. Mr. Noone is survived by his wife; children, Bill (Barbra) Noone, John Michael (Kathy) Noone and Cathy (Tim) Frawley; brother, John Noone; sister, Cathleen Snyder; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was the loving grandfather and personal hero to Colin, Megan, Paddy, Seth, Bevin, Molly, Cavan, Michael, Patrick, Kevin, and John; as well as 13 great-grandchildren. A viewing will be 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Church, 251 E. Main St., Dallastown. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. at the church with Rev. John McCloskey OFM Cap as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fountain Springs. The John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., 902 Mt. Rose Ave., York, is assisting the family.
