Myers CAPE CORAL, FL William Myers 76, formerly of York, died on May 31, 2013, from complications of Parkinson's disease. Born in Straus-burg, he graduated from Strausburg High School. After a tour of duty with the army in Germany, he returned to the states and earned his bachelor's degree in psychology from Franklin and Marshall College. Bill then moved to Minnesota and earned his master's and doctorate degrees in psychology from the University of Minnesota. After graduation, he worked in research and taught at Macalester College in St. Paul. Following time spent designing zoo habitats and working with aquatic mammals, Bill returned to Pennsylvania and went into private practice. He retired from practice in 2006. He was an active member of the Himalayan Institute in Honesdale. Bill is survived by his wife of 12 years, Sandy Means of Cape Coral, his son Benjamin Myers of York, his sister Polly Ann Grabill of Elizabethtown and step children Robert Smith, Sonia McElwain, Becky Lewis and Nelson Barnard plus numerous nieces, cousins and step grand-children. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2013, at 1 p.m. in the Round Room of the Carriage House of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of York, 925 S. George St. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hope Hospice, 2430 Diplomat Parkway E, Cape Coral, FL 33909.
