CARMEL, IN Willie J. Hylton, 82, passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2012, in his Carmel home. Willie was born April 1, 1930, in Gary, W.Va., to the late Sidney J. and Sadie McClanahan Hylton. He was a crane operator for Brocker's Manufacturing in York, and later worked for Ruppert Detective Agency, also in York. Willie was the widower of Marian Shaffer Hylton. He is survived by his siblings, Ivory Hylton, Lerina Fink, and Arlevia Farley, all of Princeton, W.Va., Frank Hylton of Scottsdale, Ariz., Jack Hylton of Quakertown, and Darlene Holcomb of Chatsworth, Ga.; and daughters, Karen S. Hylton of Westfield, Ind., and Vickie L. Edwards of Carmel, Ind. Following the passing of his wife in 2007, Willie moved to Carmel, spending his time in the home of his daughter, Vickie, and her husband, Tom Edwards, and grandsons, Gregory and Sean Edwards. In the five years Willie spent in Carmel, he had made many friends as he traveled around his Mt. Carmel neighborhood on his red three-wheeled bicycle. He will be missed by his many friends at Brunchies Restaurant, The Jersey Cafe, Puccini's, 3D's Pub, and CVS Pharmacy. He received the nickname "Hot Rod" from the Brunchies' waitresses. Private services will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Flanner and Buchanan-Carmel.
