YORK Janet L. (Bortner) Spangler, 76, died Thursday, November 22, 2012, at 9:25 a.m. at Manor Care Health Services Kingston Court. She was the wife of Carl E. Spangler, with whom she celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary June 15, 2012. There will be a viewing Wednesday 10 to 11 a.m. at Workinger-Semmel Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc., 849 E. Market St., York. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Roger A. Mentzer, pastor of Bethlehem U.M. Church in Dallastown and Wesley S. Mast, chaplain of Heartland Hospice officiating. Burial will follow the service in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Spangler was born November 2, 1936, in Glen Rock, a daughter of the late Stewart W. and Catherine M. (Mann) Bortner. Mrs. Spangler was a homemaker and a 50+ year member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are one daughter, Carol L. Godfrey and her husband, Stephen of York; two sisters, Florence " Flossie " M. Miller of York and Judy A. Rohrbaugh of Dallastown; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceeded in death by two brothers, Maynard and Roger Bortner; a sister, Marie Brown; and a stepmother, Ida Bortner.
