WILLIAMSPORT Janet Mae (Luckenbaugh) Forker, 90, formerly of LaPorte and Valparaiso, Ind., Fairfield Pa., Asbury Park and Bridgeton, N.J. and Harrisburg and Spring Grove, Pa., passed away on February 3, 2014, at the Williamsport Home in Williamsport. She was the loving wife of the late Rev. Walter F. Forker. Janet was born in Spring Grove on May 23, 1923, and was the daughter of the late George and Mary Emma (Strickhouser) Luckenbaugh. She graduated from Spring Grove High School and Albright College in Reading. She taught home economics and general science in New Jersey for many years. She was an artist who loved to paint throughout her life. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Spring Grove, Christ Lutheran Church in Bridgeton, N.J. where her husband was pastor from 1948-1957, Atonement Lutheran Church in Asbury Park, N.J., where her husband was pastor for over 27 years from 1957-1985, Trinity Lutheran Church in Valparaiso, Ind. and Bethany Lutheran Church in LaPorte, Ind. She is survived by her sons, Mark Forker and wife Christine of Valparaiso, Ind., Thomas Forker and wife Eileen of Williamsport, Joel Forker of Knoxville, Tenn., W. Jonathan Forker and fiancee Darlene Pavey of LaPorte, Ind., and Neil Forker and wife Ana of San Pedro, Calif. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her sisters, Norma Castleman and Shirley Ruth; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, G. Fred Luckenbaugh and Robert Luckenbaugh. A funeral service in celebration of her life will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 201 S. Main St., Spring Grove, PA with the Rev. Paul Gausmann officiating. She will be laid to rest following the service next to her husband at Spring Grove Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Family services are entrusted to Irwin-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc. of Spring Grove.
