YORK Dale Eugene Spahr, 90, died Friday, February 7, 2014, at Country Meadows, York. He was the husband of the late Janet Hoffman Spahr. Dale was born June 16, 1923, in York, the son of the late Raymond and Margaret (Gross) Spahr. Dale graduated from William Penn Senior High School, Class of M-1941 and served in the Army Air Force during World War II. Dale managed a Kinney Shoe store for 36 years and after retirement served as Tipstaff at the York County Court House for 15 years. Dale was active in church and social organizations throughout his life. He was a member of the former Bethany U.C.C. and a current member of Paradise Holtzschwamm E.C.C., Zeredatha Lodge #451, Tall Cedars of Lebanon York Forest #30, Zembo Temple, Harrisburg Consistory, York County Shrine Club, Hawks Gunning Club, Shiloh American Legion Post 791, West York VFW 8951, and a former member of Lake View Yacht Club. He was especially proud that he was a life member of the Penn State Alumni Association and the Nittany Lion Club and enjoyed attending Penn State football and basketball games with his friends and family. Surviving are children, Barbara Anderson-Bennatt and husband, Ted of Conroe, Texas, Peggy Wagner and husband, Wayne of Greenville, S.C., and Dale C. Spahr and companion, Yvonne Sauble of York. Dale is also survived by four grandchildren, Connor Spahr, Sara Wagner, Matt Wagner, and Jason Anderson; five great-grandchildren; and his sister, Miriam Cromis of York. Dale was preceded in death by his sisters, Ethel Dimm and Elaine Westover. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to a viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by a funeral service on Wednesday, February 12, at Paradise Holtzschwamm E.C.C., 6777 Lincoln Highway, Thomasville. Veterans' honors will be presented by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Pastors Paul Guiliano and Tom Bellis will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Salem Union Cemetery, Dover. Emig Funeral Home, Dover, is assisting with arrangements.
