SHREWSBURY Robert E. Keener, 79, formerly of Baltimore, Md., died Sunday, February 16, 2014, at Colonial Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, York. He is survived by his loving wife, Jackie Ellen (Young) Keener, to whom he was married 43 years. A viewing will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, February 23, 2014, at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom. A funeral service will begin at 5 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Born August 4, 1934, in Baltimore City, Md., Bob was the son of the late Howard and Pauline (Mosier) Keener. Bob was a Baltimore County Policeman for 11 years. He then worked in construction, helping with the newest Bay Bridge for three years. Bob was a great salesman and very hard worker before he retired in 2009 from Homeview Contractors, Timonium, Md., after 30 years of service. Bob was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was an avid golfer, and enjoyed bowling and walking. He was a die-hard Orioles and Ravens fan and was an animal lover. Bob was a gentleman and a wonderful, loving husband and uncle. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his dog, Pumpkin, and two cats, Olivia and Precious. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Sonny and David Keener.
