WEST YORK Patsy R. Ness, 81, died at 11:58 a.m. Monday, February 17, 2014, at York Hospital. She was the wife of Earl L. Ness. Born May 13, 1932, in York, she was a daughter of the late Lester and Ethel (Poole) Welker. She worked as the bookkeeper for her husband's business, Ness' Exxon, and in earlier years she had worked for Careva and Lyon Metal. She was a member of Saint Paul Evangelical Congregational Church since age 10, where she was a Sunday school teacher in the children's department, was also a Vacation Bible School teacher. She enjoyed hosting Good News Club meetings at her home, as well as cooking and baking. In addition to her husband of 63 years, Mrs. Ness is survived by two daughters, Karen M. Flinchbaugh and her husband, Kent, and Kimberly S. Trish and her husband, Eric, of York; two sons, Edward Ness and his wife, Donna, and Steven D. Ness and his wife, Lori of York; 10 grandchildren, Chris, Kevin, Kellye, Zach, and Tyler Ness, Derek and Kaitlin Flinchbaugh, and Joshua, Andrew, and Lindsay Trish; and five great-grandchildren, Tori, Justin, Austin, Isabella, and Harper. She was also preceded in death by a grand daughter, Andrea Flinchbaugh, and a sister, Helen Petry. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, February 24, 2014, at Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 S. George St., York, with her Pastor, The Rev. Carlos Kelly, and her former Pastor, The Rev. Alfred Miller, officiating. Viewings will be 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday and 9 to 10 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery.
