YORK Fred Miller, 83, died Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at York Hospital. He was the husband of Estelle B. (Friedman) Miller, to whom he was married to for 55 years. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, February 23, 2014, at Temple Beth Israel, 2090 Hollywood Drive, York. Officiating at the service will be Rabbi Jeffrey Astrachan. There will be no viewing. Burial will be in South Hill Hebrew Cemetery. The Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock, is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Miller was born on August 25, 1930, in York, a son of the late Michael and Sadie (Hadassah) Miller. He graduated from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and had been employed as a stockbroker in York with Morgan Stanley and its predecessor companies for nearly 40 years, retiring in 2005. Fred was a member of Temple Beth Israel, the York Jewish Community Center and the Outdoor Country Club. Besides his wife, he also leaves three daughters, Geri Miller of Los Angeles Calif., Julie Miller of Seattle, Wash., and Jane Hashash and her husband Asher of Renton, Wash.; two grandchildren, Avi and Noam Hashash; two brothers, Bennett Miller of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Marty Miller of East Montpelier, Vt. He was predeceased by a brother, Elliott Miller. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Central Pennsylvania, 2405 Park Drive, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110; or to Jewish Family Services of York, 2000 Hollywood Drive, York, PA 17403. Condolences may be shared at Fred loved his family and friends, golf, gadgets, cardigans, the Eagles, making applesauce, the New York Times, egg creams, the Phillies, vintage cars, a good corned beef sandwich, and his routine.
