YORK Those we hold closest never leave us, they live on in the love they brought into our lives. Miriam Pauline "Gross" Castleman "Mim" was born on July 23, 1928, daughter of Rose A. Gebhart Gross and Earl L. Gross Sr. in Littlestown. She worked and retired from both Mrs. Smith's Pie Bakery after 23 years of service and Peter Paul Cadbury after seven years. She was a member of the Bakers, Confectionary and Tobacco Union and St. Mary's Catholic Church. Mim touched all who met her and will be remembered for her love of her family as a devoted mother, grandmother and aunt; her kindness, generosity, fun-loving and strong spirits, golden heart, and her Homemade Pot Pie, Apple Dumplings, and PA Dutch cooking. She is survived by her beloved children, a daughter, Sandra K. Dellinger, son Dale E. "Mike" Castleman and wife Luann; grandchildren, Lori, Kelly, Jessica, Dana, Marlyn, Jon and Jason; great-grandchildren, Kayla, Louis, Ty, Michael, Jaxiel, Nazareth, Annelise, Shayna, Parker and Amanda; great-great-grandchildren, Isabella, Lorelei, Logan, Lucas, and Ava; sister, Joann Myers (York); and brothers, Richard Gross (Clovis, N.M.), Philip Gross (Los Altos, Calif.) and John Gross (Bloomington, Ill.); the many nieces and nephews whom she loved and adored as her own; and all those who adopted her as "Grandma". She was preceded in death by her son, Victor K. Gross; a grandson, Christopher; son-in-law, Marlyn Dellinger Jr.; sisters, Gloria Luckenbaugh, Mary Waites; and brothers, Earl Gross Jr. and Alvin "Sam" Gross. The viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, March 7, 2014 at Saint Mary's Catholic Church, 309 S. George St., York. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jonathan P. Sawicki officiating. Interment will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc., is entrusted with the arrangements.
