DOVER Jean M. (Gundlach) Taughinbaugh, 71, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014, at York Hospital. She was the wife of Charles R. Taughinbaugh, Jr., who died on January 1, 2005. Mrs. Taughinbaugh was born in York, on December 15, 1942, daughter of the late Robert L. and Mary E. (Schmid) Gundlach. Jean retired as a registered nurse, formerly employed by York Hospital, VNA Hospice, and the York Health Corporation. She was a member of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, York, and the Shiloh American Legion, Post 791. Survivors include a daughter, Susan A. Maedl Stambaugh of Vancouver, Wash.; two sons, Patrick E. Taughinbaugh of Harrisburg and Brian S. Taughinbaugh and his wife, Mary of Dover; four grandchildren, Lindsey M. Maedl, Heather C. Maedl, Caleb M. Taughinbaugh, and Olivia G. Taughinbaugh; two sisters, Carol Burns and Patricia Rudisill, both of York; two brothers, Robert and James Gundlach, both of York; a son-in-law, John E. Maedl of Vancouver, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2014, at the LeRoy R. Leber Funeral Home, Inc., 2290 School St., York (Shiloh). Officiating will be Pastor William Schmid. There will be a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the USO Wounded Warriors Fund, Dept. WS, P.O. Box 96860, Washington D.C. 20090-6860.
