DOVER Avalee "Pat" I. Landis, 69, entered into rest Monday, March 10, 2014, at Pleasant Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Vernon "Whitie" B. Landis. Born June 9, 1944, in Dover, Pat was a daughter of the late Glenn M. and Ruth L. (Boyer) Shaffer. She was a homemaker who enjoyed crafts, sewing and crocheting. Pat was a member of Mount Royal U.M. Church in Dover. She is survived by two sons, Luke K. Landis of Dover and Larry A. Landis of York; two daughters, Leslie A. Landis and Lisa K. Howell, both of York; three grandchildren, Jacob, Sara and Mya Landis; six brothers, Glenn F. Shaffer, Jr. and Charles D. Shaffer, both of Dover, Eugene R. Shaffer of Dallas, Donald R. Shaffer of Denver, Colo., Marlin R. Shaffer of Johnstown, and Lewis Randy Shaffer of Lewisberry; and six sisters, Julian A. Myers, June D. Bolton, SallyAnn L. Miller and Kyle M. Kerr, all of Dover, Cavalee I. Miller of McConnellsburg and Janette L. Shearer of Shermansdale. In addition to her husband and parents, Pat was preceded in death by a brother, Paul M. Shaffer. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Pat's funeral at 11 a.m. and the viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Emig Funeral Home, 47 N. Queen St., Dover. Burial will follow in Salem Union Cemetery in Dover. Officiating will be the Rev. Darryl MacPherson, assistant to the pastor of Providence Presbyterian Church in York, and Chaplain Sue Oelrich of Pleasant Acres. Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Royal U.M. Church, 85 York St., Wellsville, PA 17365.
