YORK Donald "Flip" W. Bowman, 74, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at Rest Haven York. Mr. Bowman was born in York, on February 5, 1940, son of the late Woodrow N. and Mary J. (Bates) Bowman Hoff. Donald was employed by the former St. Regis Paper Mill for more than 20 years and retired from Bricker's Famous French Fries after approximately 26 years. Flip, as he was fondly known, was a life member of the Viking Athletic Assoc. and the 9th Ward Republican Club. In addition, he was a member of the West York V.F.W. Post 8951. Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Bonds and her husband, Wade, and two grandsons, Logan and Blake Bonds, all of Kennewick, Wash.; three brothers, Gene Bowman and his wife, Gloria, Dwight Bowman and his wife, Sharon, and Tom Hoff; five sisters, Bonnie Neuman, Linda Elliott and her husband, Boyd, Pam Plyler and her husband, Bob, Connie Hauck and her husband, Rick, and Sharon Lee Kleinfelter, all of York; two uncles; three aunts; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Abbott; and three brothers, Lewis Bowman, and Bill and Earl Hoff. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 17, 2014, at the Koller Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 2000 W. Market St., York. Officiating will be the Rev. Paul W. Bentzel of New Fairview Church of the Brethren, York. Burial will be private in Mt. Rose Cemetery. There will be a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
