YORK Vernon Edward "Eddie" Banks, Sr., 85, entered into the presence of God on Friday, March 21, 2014, from Colonial Manor. He was the husband of the late Betty Jane (Joseph) Banks. Born on July 30, 1928, in Lancaster County, he was the son of the late Daisy (Simpson) and Percy Banks, Sr. He retired from Cole Steel. Mr. Banks leaves to cherish his memory children, Wanda Banks of York, Charles Banks (Bobbi) of Lancaster, Geneva Banks (Archie), Crystal Washington, Keith Banks (Tina), and LaDawn Brown (Ken), all of York, Ginnysue Williams (Charron) and Verneice Kenny (Curtis), both of S.C., and Renee Friend of York; his companion, Ernestine "Tina" Walker; a daughter-in-law, Marlayna Banks of York; two "special sons", Ronnie Roach and Charles Walker; two "special daughters, Charlotte Williams and Cheryl Gwynn; 23 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and siblings, Thomas Banks, James Banks (Thelma), Anna Carter, and Bessie Glover and their families, all of York. He was preceded in death by children, Juanita Banks, Vernon Banks, Jr., Marlin Banks, and Terrance Banks; a grandson, Derek Sease; a great-grandchild, Aryiana Banks; and a sister, Casey Hicks. The viewing will be from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Emmanuel C.O.G.I.C., 825 E. Princess St., York, on Saturday, March 29, 2014. The Homegoing Service will begin at 11 a.m. with Pastor Ron Banks officiating. Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc., York, is entrusted with the arrangements.
