WRIGHTSVILLE Roy Leiphart, 75, stepped joyously onto the shores of heaven on Tuesday morning, April 22, 2014. Roy was born at home on the family farm in Wrightsville on January 22, 1939, son of the late John Jacob Leiphart, Sr. and Elsie Matilda Dietz Leiphart. Roy was retired from KBA Motter Printing of York after many years of loyal service. He previously worked as a mechanic for several local garages. Roy could always be found fixing something for someone and tinkering with equipment and machinery. He had a strong work ethic, enjoyed learning new things and helping others. Roy was a student of life and shared his experience and wealth of homegrown wisdom with anyone willing to listen and learn from him. His favorite roles in life were that of husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He also enjoyed farming and gardening. Roy was loved by many will be much missed by his family, neighbors and community to whom he gave sacrificially and generously of his garden surplus, time and talents. He enjoyed hunting and being out of doors. He was actively involved for many years at the Susquehanna Grace Brethren Church of Wrightsville and attended Christ United Methodist Church of Yorkana for 15 years. He leaves his beloved wife of 21 years, Darlene Baker Leiphart. He is survived by three sisters, Romaine Wantz, Doris Miller and Ethel Smith and by two brothers John Jacob Leiphart, Jr. and Richard Leiphart. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Leiphart. He is survived by his five children, Melinda Ponce, Roy Leiphart, Jr, Faron Leiphart, Shawn Leiphart and Wanita Shoff, and eight grandchildren and numerous extended family. A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Christ United Methodist Church of 5 Main St, Yorkana followed immediately by a funeral service at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the missions fund of the Christ United Methodist Church of Yorkana PA. 14706.
