NEW FREEDOM Larry B. Somerville, 75, died Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at York Hospital. A visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, April 27, from J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom. A funeral liturgy will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2014, from St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Freedom, with the Rev. Joshua R. Brommer officiating. Burial will follow the service at the church cemetery. Larry was born April 6, 1939, in Hastings, Cambria County, a son of the late Benjamin and Mabel (Cook) Somerville. He was the husband of the late Juliana Marie (Itzoe) Sommerville. Larry retired in 2001 from Baldwin Line Construction in Elkridge, Md., after 35 years of service. He was a member of IBEW #70, the New Freedom Gardeners, and was a social member of Stewart American Legion Post 455, Stewartstown, and New Freedom V.F.W. Post 7012. Larry was also a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church in New Freedom and to its Jewels. He also worked part time for the church in maintenance. Larry volunteered with H.O.P.E., enjoyed bowling, and all sports. He loved watching John Wayne and Clint Eastwood movies, and especially loved being outdoors. Larry is survived by his children, Mark A. Somerville and his wife, Lesa of Dallastown, Theresa M. Richter and her husband, Ryan of Pasadena, Md., Susan E. Taylor and her husband, Vallie, Jr. of Parkton, Md., Lisa A. Fleur and her husband, Charles of Loganville, Raymond H. Somerville and his wife, Jennifer of Columbia, Md., and Ronald A. Somerville and his wife, Karen of New Freedom. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, James Somerville and his wife, Shirley of New Freedom, and Richard Somerville and his wife, Jackie of Jacobus. He was preceded in death by seven siblings, Zelda Mae Schubert, Joanne Price, Ruth Edie, Vera Benedict, John, Carl, and Kenneth Somerville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to H.O.P.E., P.O. Box 175, Shrewsbury, PA 17361.
