YORK Jane (Shellenberger) Garber, 89, entered the loving arms of her Lord on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Colonial Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, York. She was the wife of Luther "John" M. Garber, Sr., who died on February 16, 2002. Jane was born in West Manchester Township, on January 20, 1925, daughter of the late Melvin J. and Bertha J. (Lauer) Shellenberger. She was a member of the Shiloh United Church of Christ, York, and its mixed adult Sunday school class. Jane and her late husband, Luther, enjoyed volunteering at Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen, York. Survivors include her four children, Dale E. Garber and his wife, Barbara of York, Mark M. Garber of Thomasville, Luther "Buck" M. Garber, Jr. and his wife, Joann of York, and Diane M. Robertson and her husband, Scott of Virginia; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at Shiloh United Church of Christ, 2251 Willow Road, York. Officiating will be her Interim Pastor, Patricia Mullen, and her Visitation Pastor, Elmer Scofield. Final resting place will be beside her husband in Shiloh Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the church. At the family's request, memorial contributions should be made to Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen, P.O. Box 548, York, PA 17405.
