YORK James F. Picking, 89, died Friday, May 2, 2014, at York Hospital. He was the husband of Lois L. (Crumling) Picking, his wife of 68 years. Born October 10, 1924, in York, he was the son of the late George T. and Lena M. (Lauer) Picking. Jim was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He followed his father into the plumbing and HVAC business and was involved in this industry his entire career. He also taught HVAC classes at various technical schools. Jim was a member of Mt. Pisgah Trinity United Methodist Church where he was a Lay Leader, Sunday school superintendent, and teacher for many years. He was also a former Lay speaker for the United Methodist Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Diane and her husband, Ronald Salisbury of Akron, Ohio, Kathleen and her husband, Robert Heiser of Hellam, and Jody and her husband, Frederick Bowers of Wrightsville; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Pisgah Trinity United Methodist Church, 5615 Mount Pisgah Road, York, with the Rev. Brad Gilbert, his pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. A viewing will be held Monday May 5, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Etzweiler Funeral Home, Inc., 700 Hellam St., Wrightsville, and Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
