THOMASVILLE Phyllis M. (Murphy) Sterner, 75, passed away on May 2, 2014, at her home with her family by her side. She was the loving wife of Merle L. Sterner. Together they shared over 60 years of marriage. Phyllis was born in Thomasville on May 8, 1938, and was the daughter of the late Elwood and Bertha (Forry) Murphy. She worked for Pfaltzgraff in York for over 40 years. She was a longtime member of Paradise Hotlzschwamm Evangelical Covenant Church. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially at their cabin in Tioga County. She was an avid dog lover and will be missed by her beloved pets, Leo and Zipper. In addition to her husband Merle, she is survived by her children, Jeffrey Sterner and wife Kae, from Thomasville, and Sharon Myers and husband Barry, from Dover; her loving grandchildren, James Sterner and wife Jennifer from Auburn, Kansas, and Jennifer Krichten and husband Eric; and her great-grandsons, Tanner and Nathan from East Berlin. She was predeceased by her sisters, Maybelle Rohrbaugh and Peggy Zinn; and her brothers, William Murphy and Earl Murphy. The family would like to specially thank the Asera Care Hospice and The Visiting Angels Services for their professionalism and compassion during this lengthy illness. The services are being held privately at the convenience of the family un- der the direction of Irwin-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., of Spring Grove.
