YORK Stella (Kemp) Hill, 66, at native of Jacksonville, Fla., went to meet the Lord Friday, May 2, 2014. She has been a resident of York for the last 42 years. She was employed by York Hospital and York Athletic Club, and was the driving force behind the success of the "King George Bar and Grill" in the earlier days of her employment. Mrs. Hill was born June 1, 1947, and attended the Old Stanton Vocational School in Jacksonville, Fla. She was very sociable, and loved to shop, bet on horses, and travel. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mrs. Flossie Danzy; stepfather, Bernies Danzy; and brothers, Willie Lee Kemp, Jimmy Lee Kemp and Charlie Ponder. She is survived by her sister, Margaret Lewis of Rochester, N.Y.; brothers, William Batts and James Lewis, both of Jacksonville; daughter, Tasha (Hill) Hudson, and two sons, Kendrix Hill and Lorenzo Kemp, all of York; three grandsons, Robert D. Smith, Hyshaun Hudson, and Kendrix Hill, Jr.; three granddaughters, Laquanna Hill, Clarissa Hill, and Kendria Hill; and a host of great-grandchildren, relatives, and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 10, 2014. There will be a viewing from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, followed by a memorial service at noon at Gladfelter Funeral Home, 822 E. Market St., York 17403. The family of Stella (Kemp) Hill gratefully acknowledges all prayers, calls, cards, and other heartfelt acts of kindness and love extended to us during this time of bereavement.
