FELTON Roland L. "Les" Brown, Jr., 76, died Monday, May 5, 2014, at home. Viewing will be held 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 19 S. Main St., Stewartstown. Funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at the mortuary, with Full Military Honors by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. The Rev. Dr. Kenneth Cademartori will officiate. Interment will be in Druid Ridge Cemetery in Baltimore. Mr. Brown was born September 3, 1937, in Baltimore, Md., a son of the late Roland L. Brown, Sr. and Cletna C. (Miller) Brown. He was the husband of Mary R. Brown, his wife of 58 years. Mr. Brown served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He was a retired bus driver with the Maryland Transit Authority and was previously employed as a Baltimore City Police Officer. Mr. Brown was a member of the American Legion Post 945 in Harrisburg. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Rinely, where he served as a deacon. Mr. Brown enjoyed playing baseball and was an avid outdoorsman. He will be most remembered for the love he had for his family and how he cherished spending time with them. He is survived by daughter, Brenda L. Ray and her husband Timothy L. of Glen Rock; sons, James C. Brown and his wife Patricia L. of Felton, and David M. Brown and his wife Joy of Brogue; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sons, Roland L. Brown III and Jamie L. Brown; daughters, Belinda Jean and Belinda Jane Brown; grandson, Roland L. Brown IV; and sister, Gloria J. Brantley. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Brown's name may be made to the , 924-N Colonial Avenue, York, PA 17403.
